good old
As a proud owner of a 2007 Toyota Camry, I am very disappointed in the current problems Toyota is having.
Funny, but when Toyotas were made in Japan, there was no problem, whatsoever. Coincidence?

Re: good old
My mom has a Toyota Corolla from 1990, still runs perfectly. I have to say that Toyotas overall seems to be very well engineered, albeit a tad boring.

Re: good old
They're really hurting right now with all the recalls. The other makers are going to really jump on them soon I would imagine.b

Re: good old
I personally have had bad luck with various brands of Japanese vehicles, except a Mitsubishi-made 1979 Dodge Challenger... good car, and fun to drive. Some guy hit it while it was parked out in front of our house and totaled it back in '83....
One thing they all seem to have in common is that they have a tendency to rust badly.
I must admit that they do make some good-looking cars, though, and some are very quick. But I feel that the domestic brands have vastly improved their quality due to the foreign competition.

Re: good old
...and it also seems that the recall of Toyotas has little (any?) relationship to where the vehicle was made. These design errors, and corporate decisions to value profit margins ahead of safety concerns when those errors were discovered have nothing to do with where these vehicles were assembled.
Mr. Toyoda's testimony in front of congress today was... evasive ...or so it seemed to me.
I don't understand why folks bash American-made products...

Re: good old
Japanese business leaders have this magic thing which is disgaceful to them personally, yet very effective in defusing a problem.
You just "loose face" publically and accept personal responsibility with a deep bow and people stop being angry at you.
Well, in Japan at least, unfortunately it isn't quite as easy in the US but I don't think Mr. Toyoda has gotten that yet.

Re: good old
A bit o' trivia: Why is the manufacturer called "Toyota", and not "Toyoda"?
Story here.
